Herstory gives power to women and girls through creative acts that celebrate and highlight the lives of women. With this calendar, we’d like to share with you some of the portraits of New Mexico women that have been made in various public Herstory Printmaking workshops. When we begin a workshop we ask our participants, “Who are the women or girls that you look up to in your community, family, or neighborhood?” Participants learn our printmaking technique, they write a short statement about the subject of their Herstory portrait, and take home a print they have made. Herstory also keeps a print so that we can wheatpaste it on a sanctioned public wall.
